My family and I moved into a new (to us) house in 2017. I’m posting the “before” pictures here so you can see where we started. The Office:
The Plan: Paint the walls a light, neutral color. Bring in my office furniture. Style the bookshelves with art, books, and vintage treasures.
Update: My new home office is complete!
The Dining Room:
The Plan: Paint the walls a moody blue-green color. Bring in our dining room furniture, including antique and modern pieces. Replace the chandelier and add art.
Update: I decided to go with a light blue-green on the walls to make the dining room feel bigger. I’m still searching for the right artwork for this space.
The Powder Room:
The Plan: Remove the wallpaper and paint the walls. Replace the light fixture and faucet. Add art and accessories (including a mirror!).
Update: The wallpaper is gone, and I’m loving my new Carrara marble vanity! Now, if I could just figure out a better way to photograph this teeny, tiny room…
The Family Room:
The Plan: Paint the walls and ceiling a light, neutral color. Purchase a new rug and furniture. Style the bookshelves and find the perfect piece of art to hang over the fireplace.
Update: Mission accomplished! We enjoy this room so much!
The Kitchen:
The Plan: Eventually, I’d like to remodel the kitchen, but for now I’ll replace the hardware and refrigerator. My husband doesn’t like the faux wood paneled fridge. I tell him it’s a conversation piece. 😉
Update: We remodeled the kitchen in 2020. We removed the double oven, pantry walls, and bar-height counter. We added a lot of cabinet space, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, a marble backsplash, and new lighting.
The Laundry Room:
The Plan: I’d like to remodel the laundry room, too, but for now I’ll just replace the washer and dryer.
Update: My new Electrolux washer and dryer have arrived!
The Sun Porch:
The Plan: Purchase a new rug and furniture. Add plants and try not to kill them.
The Master Bedroom:
The Plan: Paint the walls and ceiling a light, neutral color. Bring in our bedroom furniture. Add art and accessories.
The Master Bath:
The Plan: (Deep breath…in…out…) Remove the wallpaper and paint the walls a soothing color. Remove all five mirrors and replace them with one over each sink. Replace all hardware and faucets. Replace the shower surround with a seamless one.
C’s Bedroom:
The Plan: Paint the walls a neutral color. Bring in C’s furniture and decorate with an Americana theme.
Update: Our tween son’s bedroom doubles as a guest room.
C’s Bathroom:
The Plan: Remove the wallpaper and paint the walls navy blue. Replace the light fixture, faucet, and hardware.
B’s Bedroom:
The Plan: Paint the walls a light blue color. Bring in B’s furniture and decorate with a coastal theme.
B’s Bathroom:
The Plan: Remove the wallpaper and paint the walls a light color. Replace the light fixture, faucet, and hardware.
The Playroom:
The Plan: Try to keep the toys contained in here!
