The First Post

Here it is!

My first blog post.

I’ve been thinking about this blog and planning it in my head for quite a while. When my youngest son was in preschool, I realized I would want some sort of “job” once he started kindergarten. After being a stay-at-home mom for 10 years, I considered going back to work, but decided against it for several reasons (more on that in a future post). I wanted a creative outlet for my writing, photography, and design skills – all of which are still emerging and in need of much practice and refining. A blog seemed like the logical place to start.

I’m a rather private person, so putting my writing on the internet for all the world to see is way outside my comfort zone. But I have to assume there are people out there who have the same questions and struggles that I do. Even if all I do is reassure one person that she’s not alone, I’ll consider that a win. I’m also guessing there are people out there like me, who want to live more intentionally, but aren’t sure where to start. I’m not a “trial and error” type of person. I hate to waste my time on lousy books, recipes, workouts, or restaurants. I always like to get a recommendation from a trusted friend before I commit. Hopefully, I can be that friend for my readers.

I originally intended to blog about redecorating and maintaining our historic home in Norfolk, VA, but my husband’s job moved us to Charleston, SC, where we are currently renting. You know what they say: “When life gives you lemons, make limoncello!” (That’s what we Italians say anyway.) There are so many fun things to see and do in Charleston, so I’ll be sharing many of those with you. I’ll also write about travel, food, books, design, minimalism, motherhood, finances, and life in general. Please visit my “About” page to learn more about me. If you join my mailing list, you’ll be notified when I publish a new post. You can also connect with me via social media. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for visiting!
